Thinking vs. Acting

The other day I was researching e-mail subscriptions services for this website.  You know, those really annoying pop-up windows that asks you to subscribe.  I hate those.  So I was searching for a way to offer a subscription offer in an unobtrusive way.  All this stuff is foreign to me.  I searched the web high and low, getting more and more confused with every article.  By the end of the day I’d gotten nowhere and was frustrated with how much time I’d wasted.  I decided at eight o’clock at night to just pick one of the services, sign up and start following the steps.  By ten o’clock, I had the little “Subscribe” button you see at the bottom of every post.  I’d done it.  It was done!

This, among other challenges I’ve been faced with lately, opened my eyes to a fact of life.  Your thinking brain can only get you so far before you must act in order to accomplish anything.  I could have read “how-to” articles on the web for days upon days upon days.  I never would have gotten that Subscribe button until I stopped reading and started trying.  We’re so afraid to fail that we don’t want to take action until we know all the right steps to take.  The problem is, many of the answers, the steps that need to be taken, don’t reveal themselves until we start trying.

WHEN WE OVERTHINK A SCENARIO WE DWELL ON POSSIBLE FAILURE.  WHEN WE ACT WE FIND ALL THE DIFFERENT PATHS TO SUCCESS.

Stop thinking so hard about it and start trying.  Be less afraid to fail and more afraid of what will or won’t happen if you never try.  You have two options, think about your future or create your future.

Thinking changes nothing, creating leads to accomplishment, opportunities and possibilities.  Which life do you want to live?
